Our event is in a marquee. How will the new Smoking law effect us?

Since the 1st of July 2007 it is illegal to permit smoking in enclosed spaces and/or places of work. The law is enforced by venue owners but not necessarily by marquee owners. Marquees when hired for private use on private land may not represent an enclosed ‘Public’ space but still represent an enclosed ‘Work’ space (for serving staff, toastmasters, photographers, catering staff and disc jockeys)

As an employer we must abide by the Smoke Free Law and hence our DJ’s are not be allowed to work in any enclosed area (including marquees) where guests are smoking. Should this occur our DJ will halt the performance (mute the music) and vacate the area until the situation is rectified. For more information on this topic please visit the Smoke Free website at smokefreeengland.co.uk.
